Georgi Bojinov's Bulgarian airplane

ABVG Home

Bulgarian Georgi Bojinov received a patent on October 8, 1912 in France for an aircraft significantly ahead of its time. In Bojinov's patent, the engine was placed beneath an aerodynamic cowling; the wings were designed with a variable pitch. The plane was finally built in 1926, and today it can be seen here in the Bulgarian Museum of Aviation, Plovdiv.

As built, the airplane has a wingspan of 10.15 meters, a wing area of 17.11 square meters and a length of 8.45 meters. The engine is a Gnom 79.9 horsepower, 7 cylinder.
