In Bulgaria, the monuments are numerous and often a closer look and detailed approach is necessary to understand properly the meaning of each. Whether related to monuments of the Soviet army, to the brotherly mounds of socialist heroes, or to partisan and antifascist resistance in the country, the chief issue addressed was what a monument actually stands for: what was the validity of the death represented and what may be considered desecrated with the monument's preservation or destruction.
