The Yantra river runs from the Balkan range then meanders through the hilly North Bulgarian lowlands at Byala in the central part of the Danube Plain.

Its name is of Thracian origin, and the river probably functioned as the western border of the neolithic culture of Kodshadermen / Karanovo (about 10,000 B.C. to 4000 B.C.).

The soil here is very fertile; and there is almost no difference in the soil fertility in the whole region.
