The Municipality of Svoge covers an area of 866 sq. km. in Western Bulgaria. It is 40 km north of the capital Sofia, in the valley of the Iskar river. It is a resort town with clean fresh air. The picturesque Iskar Gorge is the most prominent feature in the regional landscape. The Iskar Gorge is a place of great natural beauty carved out of the Stara Planina mountains. For millenia, the waters of the Iskar River have dug their way into the rock, carving out forms of incredible shape, which never fail to impress every visitor. The region is a traditional location for hiking, rock climbing, hunting, extreme sports and cave tourism. The municipality boasts over 80 cultural, historic and archeological places, monuments, monasteries, etc., the most visited of which is the Sedemte Prestola monastery.

The Thracians were the earliest known inhabitants of this region. Several forts dated to that period are located nearby in the area around the village of Zessele, whose Thracian name was Meteriza. Three necropolises are also found. The objects discovered in the Iskar Gorge, dated 4th–1st century BC, show that the region was at that time engaged in trade with the Mediterranean world.

Today, Svoge is famous for chocolate produced at the Kraft Jacob’s Suchard Co.– Kraft Foods Bulgaria is a subsidiary of Kraft Foods International, whose business units stretch in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Pacific region. The company produces and sells on the Bulgarian market the well-known trademarks Svoge, Moreni, Suchard and Siesta, imports the Milka chocolate products and the Jacobs coffee. As of April 2002 Kraft Foods Bulgaria became owner of Nova Brasilia production and distribution, a leading trademark in the field of ground and beans coffee. You'll find Svoge chocolate a favorite all over Bulgaria.
