Here, in this medieval church "St. Petka" Vassil Levski had attended divine service and sung in 1970. He came from Sofia with father Yanaki from Boyana and stayed several days.

Vassil Levski and the monastery abbot, father Gerassim, went about the villages Tserovo, Svidnya, Tseretsel, Redna and Jelen. In Svoge Vassil Levski founded a Revolutionary Committee. He taught: "Don't wait for the Serbs or Wallacks to free us. It is our business only."

The national poet Ivan Vazov had visited the church too. He wrote a poem dedicated to it - "A Reverie in the Old Church".
