Again at Rila. The monastery is situated on the slopes of Rila, the highest Balkan Peninsula Mountain, in the valley of the Rilska River, 29 km east of the Sofia - Thessaloniki Highway. The monastery is listed on The World Heritage List among 812 properties forming part of the cultural and natural heritage which the UNESCO World Heritage Committee considers as having outstanding universal value.
