Lozenska is a small mountain near Sofia. It is often overlooked because of the more famous Vitosha Mountain. It is covered mainly with pastures and broad-leaved forests. Nearly a third of Bulgaria's land area, or about 3,625,000 hectares (13,996 square miles / 8,957,570 acres / 36,250 square kilometers [km]) is covered with forest according to European Forestry Commission figures from 2005.
